- Shooting Incident over BHU Construction in Hangu district
A shooting incident between two groups over the construction of a Basic Health Unit (BHU) in the Chapri Wazir area of Hangu district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, left three people dead and one injured. According to Hangu District Police Officer (DPO) Tariq Habib, who spoke to local media on September 1, two members of one group were killed, while one member of the rival group was also killed and another sustained injuries. Among those killed was Payaw Zar, a former Tehsil Nazim affiliated with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F).
Operations in Balochistan
The Pakistan Army said on September 1, 2026 that 21 militants were killed during security forces’ operations in the Chagai and Pishin districts of Balochistan. In a statement issued on September 1, 2026 the military’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said the operations were conducted overnight between August 31 and September 1. According to the statement, militants had established an illegal checkpoint in the Nokchah area of Chagai along the N-40 Quetta–Taftan Highway, where they were allegedly extorting money and disrupting the movement of travelers. Security forces launched an operation in response, resulting in an exchange of fire in which 11 militants were killed. The ISPR said weapons and explosives were also recovered from the militants.

Pashtun People’s Jirga Concludes in Quetta with 19-Point Declaration
The three-day Pashtun Olasi Jirga, hosted by the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) in Quetta, concluded late on September 1 with the adoption of a 19-point declaration. The Jirga was held from August 30 to September 1 and was presided over by Nawab Muhammad Ayaz Khan Jogezai, Central Secretary of PkMAP and Convener of the Pashtun People’s Jirga. Mahmood Khan Achakzai, leader of PkMAP, the Movement for the Protection of Pakistan’s Constitution, and the opposition parties in the National Assembly, presented the Jirga’s declaration. The declaration expressed deep concern over the security, political, economic and human rights situation in Pashtun-inhabited areas of Balochistan. It called for the supremacy of the Constitution, genuine democracy, and a federal system based on equality among the country’s nations.

1. Pakistan Calls for Verifiable Action against TTP for Progress in Afghanistan Ties
On September 2, Pakistan’s Foreign Office reiterated that significant progress in relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan would depend on the Afghan Taliban taking practical and verifiable measures against the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other militant groups operating from Afghan soil.
Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said during his weekly press briefing that Islamabad welcomed China’s continued diplomatic engagement on Afghanistan. However, he stressed that mediation or facilitation by a third country could not substitute for concrete action by Kabul to address terrorist safe havens and networks operating from its territory.
2. Security Guard Killed in Bannu, Three Militants Reportedly Killed in Police Operation
On September 3, a security guard was shot dead by unidentified gunmen near Peepal Bazaar in the Karam Garhi area of Bannu. According to police, the deceased was employed at the Karam Garhi Power House and had gone to Peepal Bazaar with his children for shopping when the attack took place. His body was later shifted to DHQ Hospital Bannu for a post-mortem examination. Police launched an investigation into the incident and initiated a search operation to apprehend the attackers.
Separately, police led by Bannu District Police Officer (DPO) Captain (Retd.) Muhammad Furqan Bilal conducted an operation against the “Commander Gidar” group in the Domel area of Bannu. Police reported that three militants were killed during the operation, while several others were wounded.

1. Militant Drone Crashes in Kohat, Killing Young Girl
On September 5, a drone operated by militants crashed into a populated area in Kohat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, resulting in the death of a young girl. According to Kohat police, militants had deployed the drone in an attempt to target security forces conducting operations in the area. In a press release issued on September 5, Kohat police spokesperson Numan Zeb said that joint operations by police and security forces against militants were underway within the jurisdiction of Lachi Police Station. He said that during the operation, militants attempted to attack security forces using the drone, but the aircraft crashed near a populated area before reaching its intended target. Numan Zeb confirmed that the crash killed a young girl but did not provide further details about her age or identity.

21 Militants Killed in Security Operations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
The Pakistan Army has reported that 21 militants were killed during security forces’ operations in different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa between September 3 and 5. In a statement, the military’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said that militants affiliated with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were targeted during operations in various areas of North Waziristan, Kohat and Dera Ismail Khan. According to the ISPR, the operations were carried out as part of ongoing efforts by security forces to counter militant activity in the province. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly districts bordering Afghanistan, has experienced a series of militant attacks and security operations in recent years. North Waziristan, South Waziristan and Dera Ismail Khan, along with several other districts, have remained among the areas most affected by security-related incidents.

1. Nursing Students Protest against Police Action in Peshawar
Students of Hayatabad Postgraduate College of Nursing have accused police of using force against them during a protest. They said several students were injured and 11 students were arrested during the police action. According to the protesting students, a police vehicle ran over a female student’s leg during the demonstration, causing serious injury. The students told the media that faculty members conduct classes at private institutions, while regular classes are not properly held at the college. They also complained that the college has not made proper arrangements for their internships.
The students said that clinical rotations in hospitals are a mandatory part of nursing education. However, they alleged that the college administration has failed to arrange these rotations, which are important for gaining practical experience.
2. Fire Breaks Out in Urology Ward of Bannu Hospital
A fire broke out in the urology ward of Khalifa Gul Nawaz Teaching Hospital in Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on September 7. No one was injured in the incident. According to Rescue 1122, its team reached the hospital about five minutes after receiving the alert and immediately began efforts to extinguish the fire. The rescue officials said the fire was brought completely under control within around 10 minutes.
All patients in the ward were safely evacuated and relocated to other areas of the hospital.

1. Political Parties Protest Insecurity in Pishin, Balochistan
On September 7, representatives of several political parties jointly held a protest in Pishin district of Balochistan against the deteriorating security situation. The protesters chanted slogans against the government and accused it of failing to maintain law and order. They called on the authorities to take effective measures to ensure public safety. Police Officer Killed in Karak Attack, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
A police officer was killed in a militant attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Karak district on September 9, while a local man was also killed in a targeted attack in Lakki Marwat. Meanwhile, the killing of an FC soldier and the abduction of a young man in North Waziristan have added to growing public concern over security in the region. According to police, gunmen opened fire on a police patrol near Shankai Dam in Karak. The attack killed a police officer identified as Zafran and injured another officer.
Police said Zafran was a resident of Mansoori village in the Takht-e-Nasrati area of Karak.
Nets Installed at Peshawar Police Stations to Protect Against Drone Attacks
White nets installed high above police stations in Peshawar are being used as a protective measure against potential drone attacks. Police officials say the approach is based partly on lessons from the war in Ukraine, where similar nets have been used to protect personnel from drones. The nets resemble ordinary fishing nets and do not require advanced technology or expensive military equipment. According to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police officials, drones are widely available in local markets and can be modified with relatively little effort to carry bullets or explosives.
Police have started installing the nets above police stations to reduce the risk of aerial attacks and provide additional protection to personnel from drone strikes.

1. Crimes against Women and Girls increase in Balochistan
The Alliance to End Violence against Women and Girls (EVAW/G Alliance) and the Aurat Foundation have expressed concern over a reported rise in violence, killings, acid attacks, and sexual assaults against women and underage girls in Balochistan over the past month. In a joint statement, the organizations urged the Balochistan government, security agencies, and other relevant authorities to take immediate action, conduct impartial and transparent investigations, and ensure that those responsible are prosecuted under the law.
The statement highlighted several reported incidents, including the alleged killing of a 15-year-old girl by her husband in Kuchlak, an alleged acid attack and assault against a woman in Babri village of Mastung, the discovery of a woman’s body in Turbat, and the alleged sexual assault and killing of a nine-year-old girl in Ahmadwal, Nushki, followed by the concealment of her body.
2. Afghan Medical Students Challenge PMDC Directives in Lahore High Court
On September 10, thirteen Afghan medical students filed petitions with the Lahore High Court, challenging directives issued by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) requiring them to return to Afghanistan. The petitioners include seven women and six men, who filed their petitions through lawyer Asad Jamal. The students are enrolled at several medical institutions in Lahore, including King Edward Medical University, Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan Medical and Dental College, and the Services Institute of Medical Sciences.
3. A new wave of insecurity in Bannu, Lakki Marwat and North Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

On September 10, the bodies of four people were found in Lakki Marwat, near Karam Toll Plaza and Manjiwala Road. According to police, all four had been shot dead. In North Waziristan, a young man was allegedly abducted by armed men on September 8 while playing cricket in the Isaori area of Mir Ali. Reports later emerged that he had been killed.
4. Kohat Commissioner Orders Crackdown on Illegal Gold Mining
Kohat Division Commissioner Syed Moatasim Billah Shah has ordered authorities to intensify operations against illegal gold mining in the division. He said mineral resources are an important asset of the province and the country, and that illegal extraction not only causes environmental damage but also results in a loss of government revenue.
On September 10, a meeting on illegal gold mining was held under the commissioner’s chairmanship. Officials from the district administration, police, and the minerals, forests, and industries departments attended the meeting.
