Peace festival organized by KKF (& CRPD) on 30th May 2023 at Nishtar Hall in Peshawar. The festival highlighted the intersection of peace processes in the education system, music, and political activism. The festival was divided into four sessions including conference, poetic recitation event and music evening, where each session presented unique insights and perspectives. Mr. Mehran Wazir, the organizer, moderated the festival in an efficient way to ensure a good debate during the session.
Conference:
Topic: Identifying Peace Processes in Education System, Music & Political Activism
The first session – conference – delve into the importance of political activism for peace, where Ms. Shagufta Malik, Ex MPA ANP discussed the topic while sharing her experience as a political worker. Dr. Shafi Afridi critically analyze the education system and its role in the peace process, emphasizing the importance of understanding the text and context. Dr. Khadim Hussain discussed the relationship between music, politics, and resistance. The Q&A session provide an opportunity for the audience to engage with the speakers and delve deeper into the topics discussed.

In the second session, public preview screening of the documentary “Music Peace, Politics & Resistance” took place. The session was moderated by Mr. Mehran Wazir.
Poetry Recitation Event
Topic: Poetry: Peace & Resistance
The third session, a poetry recitation session centered around the themes of peace and resistance. The session was moderated by Mr. Shaukat Swati, where four Pashto language poets recited their poetic versus. The poets who participated in the session were Adv Akbar Hoti, Ms. Kalsoom Zeb, Mr. Abrar Ghar, and Mr. Mumtaz Orakzai.

Musical Evening (da aman sandara)
The one-day festival concluded with a musical evening called “Da Aman Sandara,” where four renown and talented artists such as Mr. Shaukat Swati, Mr. Ghayoor Wazir, Ms. Zar Sanga Aday, and Mr. Rahmand Gul Marwat performed by singing their Pashto language songs. The stage was anchored by Mr. Shaukat Swati.
