Khadim Hussain is director research and publications at the Centre for Regional Policy & Dialogue (CRPD). He has a distinguished career history. He has previously been the Managing Director of Baacha Khan Trust Educational Foundation (BKTEF) in Peshawar, and has taught linguistics and communication at Bahria University Islamabad and Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad for two decades. As Managing Director of BKTEF, he designed youth development programs, educational curricula, and teacher training programs, implementing these initiatives in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and Afghanistan. His efforts included training hundreds of teachers in critical education model, human rights, guiding youth in pluralism, non-violence, good governance, and leadership skills. He has been doing robust research work to understand conflicts and identify pathways to peace building in the context of human rights in Pakistan and Afghanistan. He has been been actively engaged in devising initiatives to mitigate risks emerging from environmental devastation and socioeconomic & sociocultural instability as a result of armed conflict, deforestation, technologically non-supportive mineral extraction, large scale internal migration and unplanned growth in population in the borderland regions of Pakistan and Afghanistan. He has documented these activities comprehensively in detailed reports. nKhadim Hussain has a robust portfolio of research and publications, with around 30 international research papers and scores of media articles on education, human rights, human security, social transformation, culture, linguistics, extremism, terrorism, and regional cooperation. His notable publications include Rethinking Education- Critical Discourse and Society, and The Militant Discourse along with several works in Urdu and Pashto. He has participated in numerous international conferences and has been a regular contributor to the editorial pages of Dawn since 2007 to date and to the website of CRPD. Born on April 24, 1968, he completed his early education in his village, intermediate and graduation from Islamia College Peshawar, a Master\'s in English Literature in 1992 from Peshawar University and a research degree in linguistics in 2003. His thesis focused on Language Shift in a Minority Kohistani Community—the Case of Ushojo Khadim\'s career also includes extensive involvement in literary creativity, socio-political activism, and advocacy for human rights.

A law graduate from the University of Peshawar, he brings valuable expertise in legal affairs alongside strong skills in coordination and program management. At CRPD, he plays a key role in facilitating research and publications, overseeing report writing, and coordinating research projects, seminars, conferences, training workshops, and other organizational events. He also manages CRPD’s social media platforms, ensures effective communication, and maintains record-keeping systems. He also coordinates with the network of young activists established by CRPD over the past four years in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Dr. Fazli Malik holds a PhD in Disaster Management from the University of Peshawar, with research on climate change–induced disasters and their mitigation. His contributions as Programme Officer for Climate Change with SRSP under the EU-funded PEACE-II project are widely recognized. With over 16 years of experience, he has worked with UNHCR, HCI, and ADB on projects related to emergency response, camp management, early recovery, disaster management, and climate change adaptation. He specializes in Community-Based Disaster Management, Flood Risk Management, and Disaster and Climate Change Education, and also holds advanced degrees in Management Sciences and Disaster Preparedness.

PhD in History
Dr. Asfand Yar Durrani is a historian specializing in the Pukhtuns’ resistance against British colonial rule in present-day Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. His PhD, titled “The British Raj in India and the Pakhtun Struggle for Independence: A Comparative Analysis of Violent and Non-Violent Approaches (1901-1947),” examines the dynamics of Pukhtun resistance movements.
He has published research in national and international journals and has presented at conferences in Pakistan, the UK, Malaysia, India, and Afghanistan. As an HEC-IRSIP scholar, Dr. Durrani conducted research at the University of Southampton under Professor Ian Talbot’s supervision.
For his contributions to Pukhtun historical studies, he received the “Bacha Khan Aman Award 2023” by Bacha Khan Research Cell, Peshawar. He has also taught at the Institute of Management Sciences, Peshawar, and Allama Iqbal Open University.
Research Interests: South Asian History, British Colonialism, Pukhtun Nationalism, Anti-Colonial Movements, Nonviolence, Conflict Studies, and Afghanistan’s History.
